Tuesday, September 22, 2020 ParaMed Office and Clerical Staff Join Company PSWs in CLAC Representation CLAC is moving forward with the next steps in the negotiation of the employees' first collective agreement News Mississauga, ON—On September 17, 2020, the office and clerical staff of ParaMed Home Health Care Services (ParaMed) in Oshawa and the surrounding region joined personal support workers (PSWs) employed by the company in unionizing with Health Care and Service Workers Union, CLAC Local 304. Voting was overseen by the Ontario Labour Relations Board. “ParaMed’s office and clerical staff have proven that change for the better is possible,” says Kevin Gates, CLAC representative. “CLAC will work hard on their behalf in the negotiation of their first collective agreement and in our ongoing pursuit of securing these employees better working conditions, fair treatment, and higher compensation.” ParaMed PSWs unionized with CLAC two days earlier, on September 15, following a 91-percent vote in favour of representation. Like the PSWs, ParaMed’s office and clerical staff will benefit from CLAC’s collaborative, partner-focussed approach to labour relations. CLAC looks forward to negotiating the group’s first collective agreement and advocating on their behalf in their continuing relationship with their employer.
