Monday, April 15, 2024 Outstanding Wage Gains for Montana Electrical Contractors’ Electricians with New Contract Locals Local 52 Ratifications Sectors Construction Etobicoke, ON—Local 52 members employed as electricians by Montana Electrical Contractors Ltd. unanimously ratified a three-year collective agreement providing them with outstanding wage gains and other improvements. The contract, which took effect April 1, 2024—four months ahead of its expiration—provides members with wage increases of up to $10.50 per hour (24 percent) and total package increases of up to $16.37 per hour (31 percent). In addition, employer contributions to members’ pension plan increased by up to four percent, significant improvements were made to the full suite of benefits, and PPE, tools, and apparel allowances increased by $300. Other improvements include an increase in the out-of-town meal allowance from $50 to $65, an increase in the per kilometre mileage rate to 64 cents, the introduction of paid parking provisions, and the lowering of the vacation pay threshold by two years.
