Friday, July 31, 2026 OCL Construction Service Workers Secure Wage, Pension, and Shift Protection Improvements Local 63 Ratifications Construction FORT MCMURRAY, ALBERTA—Construction workers employed by OCL Construction Services LP have secured a new collective agreement providing wage increases, improved pension contributions, a new personal protective equipment (PPE) allowance, and enhanced shift-change protections. The employees are represented by Construction Workers Union, CLAC Local 63, which has represented OCL Construction Services employees since 2011. Under the new agreement, all employees will receive a three percent wage increase effective August 2, 2026, followed by an additional 3.5 percent wage increase effective February 7, 2027. Pension contributions will also increase by 0.5 percent, providing an additional boost to employees’ retirement savings. The collective agreement introduces a new PPE allowance of $0.10 per hour. It also increases steward premiums to recognize additional training and workplace responsibilities and expands benefits language to cover laser eye surgery. The agreement establishes new protections for employees who are moved between day and night shifts without proper notice. Affected employees will be compensated for missed hours. Where a travel program is in place, OCL Construction Services will also cover the cost of required flight or bus ticket changes. “This agreement addresses some of the everyday issues that have a real impact on our members, from what they earn and put toward retirement to how unexpected shift changes affect their time and income,” says Jay Bueckert, CLAC representative. “The improvements provide greater predictability and recognize the contribution our members make to OCL projects.” OCL Construction Services LP provides construction services throughout Alberta.
