Thursday, December 21, 2023 Nutra Services Employees Unanimously Ratify New Contract Locals Local 304 Ratifications Sectors Healthcare Midland, ON—Employees of Nutra Services Inc., a Division of Browns Fine Foods Inc., unanimously ratified their first collective agreement providing them with wage increases and other improvements. The 30 cooks and dietary aides are represented by Healthcare and Service Workers Union, CLAC Local 304. The union was certified September 2, 2022, by the Ontario Labour Relations Board to represent them. The contract provides employees with 7.5 percent wage increases over the three-year term with special adjustments for dietary aides. Other improvements include the ability to make voluntary contributions to retirement savings, a $70 yearly shoe allowance ($35 for part-time staff), a 30 cents per hour weekend premium, and $1 per hour cook in-charge premium. In addition, the overtime pay threshold was reduced from 80 hours to 75 hours biweekly and for any hours worked above 7.5 hours per day. “I am very happy with the collective agreement we were able to present and have ratified by the members,” says Jessica Duval, a union steward and bargaining committee member. “The bargaining process was very productive due to the support and direction of CLAC. We were able to make improvements that we were told previously were not attainable.” “We are very happy both with the monetary component as well as the language improvements made to this agreement,” says Ruth Ann Ferguson, CLAC representative. “But we are already looking to 2025 to build on the hard work done during this round of negotiations.” You might be interested in Why We Work Safely 5 Jun 2026 Standing Your Ground, and Staying Steady on the Job 4 Jun 2026 CLAC Partners with Alberta Government to Advance Skilled Trades Training and Accelerate Certification 4 Jun 2026 Strathcona Mechanical Workers Ratify New Agreement Providing Wage, Scheduling Improvements 3 Jun 2026
