Friday, June 2, 2023 Northcoast Building Products Employees Ratify New Contract Locals Local 501 Ratifications Sectors Manufacturing Surrey, BC—Local 501 members employed by Northcoast Building Products Ltd. ratified a three-year collective agreement providing them with wage gains and other improvements. The contract provides the 17 members with an eight percent increase followed by two percent increases in years two and three. In addition, the employer will provide an annual $500 combined boot and rain gear allowance, vacation payout twice per year, an additional day of bereavement leave, and five paid sick days. The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation was added as a statutory holiday. “The Northcoast members indicated that a strong wage increase in the first year of the agreement was an important priority for them,” says David Jordan, CLAC representative. “We feel like we were successful in meeting their objectives.” Northcoast is a service-oriented wholesale and retail supplier of building products to builders, contractors, and developers.
