Niagara Health Care Workers Unanimously Approve New Agreement at Salvation Army Eventide Home

NIAGARA FALLS, ON—Health care workers at Salvation Army Eventide Home, a long-term care home in Niagara Falls, Ontario, unanimously ratified a two-year collective agreement delivering wage increases, enhanced premiums, and improved workplace protections.

The employees are represented by Niagara Health Care and Service Workers Union, CLAC Local 302, which has represented the organization’s workforce since 1983.

The 169-member group, including registered nurses (RNs), registered practical nurses (RPNs), personal support workers (PSWs), and support staff, voted 100 percent in favour of the agreement, which runs from July 1, 2026, to June 30, 2028.

The agreement includes general wage increases of 3.5 percent in the first year and three percent in the second year, along with a $0.50 per hour increase for RNs. The agreement also improves retirement eligibility, uniform allowances, and shift premiums.

“We wanted to see improvements that put more money in members’ pockets, reflecting the commitment and dedication they bring to their work every day,” says Mandeep Thakur, bargaining committee member and Local 302 board member. “This agreement delivers gains in areas that matter and puts more value behind the work our members do.”

Salvation Army Eventide Home provides long term care services to seniors in the Niagara region.
