Friday, May 8, 2026 Newcon Electric Workers Approve New Contract with Strong Wage Increases Local 52 Ratifications Construction MILTON, ON—Employees of Newcon Electric Inc., an electrical contractor based in Milton, Ontario, ratified a two-year collective agreement providing wage increases and enhanced travel-related provisions. The employees are represented by Construction Workers Union, CLAC Local 52. The union has represented the company’s employees since being certified in June 2022. The group voted unanimously in favour of the new contract and secured an 8.6 percent increase to the journeyperson total package rate, including wage increases of $1.80 per hour in each year of the agreement. The settlement also includes proportional increases to pension contributions, vacation pay, and tool and boot allowances. Additional improvements were made to travel provisions, including a reduced free zone and increased payments for mileage reimbursement and out-of-town allowances. “This round of negotiations took some time to get right,” says Roger Grootenboer, representative. “With complex and changing market circumstances at play, discussions stretched over a considerable period of time. With a fully unanimous vote to accept the settlement from the membership, it seems that it was worth the time invested.” Newcon Electric Inc. provides electrical contracting services, with employees working on projects across the Milton area and surrounding region.
