New Contract for The Wexford Residence Employees

Toronto, On — Employees at The Wexford Residence ratified a three-year contract with their union, Health Care and Service Workers Union, CLAC Local 304.

The contract included improvements to weekend premiums, vision care, and wage rates. Clarity around temporary job postings and the uniform provisions were added to the contract and staff who hold their food service worker certification received special adjustments.

“I appreciated the perspective that a part-time bargaining committee member brought to the table this round,” says Ruth Ann Ferguson, CLAC representative. “The input that Mathini Jayadev supplied worked towards getting part-time staff a vacation bank rather than being paid out on every pay. While this was not a true monetary issue, it was viewed as a step forward for part-time staff.”
