New Contract for Registered Nurses at Shalom Manor Provides Annual Wage Increases, Retroactive Adjustments for Bill 124
Grimsby, ON—Registered nurses employed by Shalom Manor Long Term Care Home in Grimsby, Ontario, have ratified a new two-year contract providing three percent wage increases each year and improvements to their medical benefits, vision plan, premium rates, and more.
The 15 employees are represented by Health Care and Service Workers Union, CLAC Local 302. The union has represented the employees since May 1986.
Other improvements include clarification regarding overtime pay, holiday pay, vacation pay, and bereavement leave; an annual $0.25 increase to standby pay; and a resolution to Bill 124 involving retroactive wage increases from July 2020 to July 2022.
“The results of our negotiations with Shalom Manor are a true win for our hardworking members at this long term care home,” says Isobel Farrell, provincial representative. “The adjustments made to counteract the negative financial effects of Bill 124 are an especially welcomed addition to the contract.”
