Thursday, April 2, 2020 New Contract for Jasper Constructors Employees Ratifications Construction Cambridge, ON—A new contract has been approved by employees of Jasper Constructors. The workers voted 92 percent in favour of the settlement negotiated by their union, Construction Workers Union, CLAC Local 52. New terms took effect on April 1, 2020. The three-year contract provides for total wage, benefit, and pension increases of up to $3.62 per hour. Along with solid pay increases, the new collective agreement provides for improved vacation pay, pension contributions, and paid time for bereavement leave. Improved language and compensation governing travel were secured, as well as better provisions surrounding scheduled hours of work. “This contract provides security and good pay for our members,” said Roger Grootenboer, CLAC representative. “Our members gave us clear expectations at the outset of contract renewal discussions. We were pleased that management and union were able to arrive at a positive settlement for everyone.
