New Contract for Anchor Hydro Employees

Amherstburg, ON—CLAC members employed by Anchor Hydro based in Amherstburg have voted unanimously to accept a settlement for a renewed collective agreement. The 25 electricians, equipment operators, and construction labourers are represented by Construction Workers Union, CLAC Local 53.

The three-year contract provides for total wage package increases of 9.1 percent over the life of the agreement. Along with annual wage rate increases, improvements were also made to employer-paid contributions to the pension plan, health and welfare benefits, out-of-town wage rate and subsistence allowance, and tool and boot allowance. Positive policy change and pay improvements for travel provisions and on-call work were also achieved. Electricians will see an additional $3.66 per hour in total package earnings.

“CLAC has been a partner in the growth of this young company over the recent years,” says Roger Grootenboer, CLAC representative. “It is exciting to be part of a dynamic and ambitious workplace and to see our members grow and be rewarded along with the success of the company.”

CLAC Local 53 was certified by the Ontario Labour Relations Board in 2015 to represent the employees at Anchor Hydro.
