Tuesday, November 22, 2022 New Contract Brings Better Wages for Members Employed by WorleyCord Energy Solutions Locals Local 63 Ratifications Sectors Construction Fort McMurray, AB—Local 63 members employed by WorleyCord Energy Solutions (construction) ratified a 30-month collective agreement that provides them with an immediate eight-percent increase to their base pay. The 330 scaffolders and electricians work at more than 10 different locations between Blackfalds and the Fort McMurray region. They will receive another two-percent increase as of January 1, 2023. Wages will be reviewed again in October 2023. These increases are significant in meeting industry standards where the current labour demand is extremely high. They also address the significant cost-of-living increases that inflation has dealt. The agreement was ratified by a 58-percent margin in a vote that saw 96 percent of the members cast ballots. The agreement also secured clearer language on matters pertaining to work hours and statutory holidays. “Our bargaining committee did an exceptional job with this round of bargaining,” says Izzy Huygen, Alberta construction coordinator. “It was particularly challenging with a diverse range of projects and regional variances. Their patience and perseverance were notable and helped get us to a settlement and ultimately the ratification.” You might be interested in Why We Work Safely 5 Jun 2026 Standing Your Ground, and Staying Steady on the Job 4 Jun 2026 CLAC Partners with Alberta Government to Advance Skilled Trades Training and Accelerate Certification 4 Jun 2026 Strathcona Mechanical Workers Ratify New Agreement Providing Wage, Scheduling Improvements 3 Jun 2026
