Monday, December 31, 2018 Negotiations and the Wage Freeze Newsletters The Manitoba provincial government has passed the Public Services Sustainability Act. This Act outlines wage adjustments for employees paid with funding from the Manitoba government for four years as Year 1: 0% Year 2: 0% Year 3: + .75% Year 4: + 1.5% CLAC has lobbied against this kind of approach, and the law has been passed but has not yet been enacted. There is also a legal challenge against this law, with court dates set for late 2019. If the court challenges are successful, negotiations will resume as usual. Local 306 has several collective agreements, which could be impacted by this legislation. Bargaining has been delayed while we await the court’s decision. We will keep you posted on further developments.
