Mirtren Construction Employees Ratify New Contract with Wage and Retirement Gains

SCARBOROUGH, ON—Employees of Mirtren Construction Limited, a general contractor based in Scarborough, Ontario, ratified a three-year collective agreement providing wage increases and improved allowances.

The employees are represented by Construction Workers Union, CLAC Local 52. The union has represented the company’s employees since 1963.

The group of labourers voted unanimously in favour of the new contract and secured wage increases of nine percent over the term. The agreement also includes a one percent increase to retirement contributions in the first year, a $50 increase to the boot and clothing allowance, and an increase to the mileage rate of $0.05 per kilometer. Additional updates include improvements to contract language.

“Our members take pride in the work they do and the value they bring to each project,” says Josh Vanderlaan, CLAC representative. “This agreement delivers steady wage growth and practical improvements that support members both on and off the job.”

Mirtren Construction Limited is a general contractor with employees working on projects across the Greater Toronto Area.
