Here’s a look at what some of you were up to Local 6 Local 53 Ontario Construction Arcadian Projects Inc. Local 6 electricians employed by Arcadian were installing lights at Martinrea International Inc.’s $35 million expansion of its auto parts facility in Ridgetown. McLean Taylor Construction Limited Adelaide Street Underpass Local 53 members employed by McLean Taylor celebrated their work at the grand opening of this newly built underpass in London, which also included improvements to McMahen Park. The work began in 2022 and was completed in July 2025. Bannockburn Bridge Rehabilitation Project Members were also busy working on a bridge rehabilitation project in Varna. A 90-tonne mobile crane was used to lift steel girders weighing approximately 7,500 lbs each. The work began in June of this year and is expected to be completed by the end of November. Sierra Group of Companies Local 53 members employed by Sierra working on the Brant’s Crossing Bridge in Brantford are in the process of separating the original steel super structure from the piers. Once separated, the structure will be craned out. Then, the original piers will be repaired and raised 1.5 metres and a new steel super structure installed. Originally constructed in 1875 as a railway bridge, it is a key pedestrian and cyclist corridor, linking Brantford’s west side of the Grand River to the east. Zehr Contruction Inc. Local 6 members employed by Zehr are building Vision Truck Group’s new corporate headquarters and sales centre in Cambridge. Members are setting up guard rails around a large skylight. Sierra - Brant's Crossing Bridge, Derick Christie and Onyx Nadeau provide skilled labour. Sierra - Brant's Crossing Bridge, Colenton Francis and Chance Douglas use their carpentry skills to build the pier platform railings and components.
