Monday, May 27, 2024 Meeting at Queen’s Park Members and representatives met with MPPs to advocate for changes in healthcare Guide Magazine On March 4, 2024, a delegation of Ontario healthcare members and representatives travelled to Queen’s Park to meet with members of provincial parliament to discuss issues facing healthcare workers. Our focus was on advocating for improving wages and working conditions in the healthcare, homecare, and long term care sectors, specifically • annual wage increases for healthcare workers, • homecare wage parity with long term care, • set mileage and travel wage rate for all work in homecare, • expanded WSIB coverage for residential care workers, • enhanced WSIB benefit levels, and • homecare included under the Hospital Labour Disputes Arbitration Act. Members split into groups to discuss their concerns with 13 different MPPs representing all parties. We also hosted a luncheon for all MPPs and their staff to allow for additional interaction with members.
