McCann Workers Ratify First Union Contract

Dashwood, ON—Employees of Dashwood-based McCann Redi Mix Inc. voted 79 percent in favour of their first three-year collective agreement.

The employees joined Local 53 in March.

The new contract features increases to wage rates and vacation pay as well as the introduction of seniority, a pension plan, and a safety allowance.

“This agreement provides good increases for our members at McCann,” says Ryan Griffioen, CLAC representative. “We are happy with the good discussions that led to this settlement and we’re happy that the membership supported the contract as well as they did. This agreement ensures our members will be well paid while remaining competitive in this market so they will continue to have work to support their families.”
