Friday, March 17, 2023 MCA Contracting Employees Unanimously Ratify New Contract Locals Local 52 Ratifications Sectors Construction Sudbury, ON—Employees of MCA Contracting Ltd. unanimously ratified a three-year collective agreement providing them with yearly wage increases and other improvements. The employees, who work as equipment operators and labourers, are represented by Construction Workers Union, CLAC Local 52. The new contract provides a 2 percent retroactive wage increase followed by 1.5 percent yearly increases for the remainder of the term. Total pension contributions increase to six percent (three percent matching contributions). In addition, yearly incremental increases in benefits were secured as well as an increase to the daily subsistence allowance to $40 per day. Two-way travel pay was negotiated for distant projects. “The members have ratified their first renewal agreement, which secured reasonable wage and benefits increases year over year,” says Matthew Walchuk, CLAC representative.
