Monday, August 14, 2023 Marnoch Electrical Employees Overwhelmingly Ratify New Contract Locals Local 52 Ratifications Sectors Construction Barrie, ON—The 30 electricians and plumbers employed by Marnoch Electrical Services Inc. overwhelmingly ratified a three-year collective agreement with 94 percent voting in favour of ratification. The employees are represented by Construction Workers Union, CLAC Local 52. The union has represented them since April 2011. The new contract provides employees with a 15 percent wage increase over the term. In addition, the safety footwear/tool allowance increases by $100. “We’re pleased with this round of negotiations and the settlement reached with the employer,” says Josh Vanderlaan, CLAC representative. “The primary concern for the membership was wage increases to offset the high cost of living, and the union bargaining committee delivered, as evidenced by the strong endorsement from our members. The agreement is also good for the employer as it allows them to remain competitive in securing work while retaining and attracting staff in a tight labour market.” Marnoch provides electrical and mechanical services in Barrie and the surrounding area.
