Wednesday, November 19, 2025 Maplecrest Village Employees Unanimously Ratify New Two-Year Contract Local 302 Ratifications Healthcare GRIMSBY, ON—Employees at Maplecrest Village, a retirement home in Grimsby, Ontario, unanimously ratified a two-year collective agreement that delivers meaningful gains in wages, vacation, sick leave, and access to pay information. The employees are represented by Niagara Healthcare and Service Workers Union, CLAC Local 302. The union has represented them since 1992. Under terms of the new contract, which runs from November 1, 2025, to October 31, 2027, employees will receive a 3.5 percent general wage increase effective November 1, 2025, followed by another 3.5 percent increase on November 1, 2026. The settlement also provides retroactive pay for all active employees as of the ratification date, to be paid within four pay periods. Part-time employees will now benefit from earned sick leave—a new provision that allows them to accrue a half-day of paid sick time for every 162.5 hours worked, up to four days annually. Long-serving employees with more than 28 years of service will see enhancements to vacation entitlements, including a seventh week of paid vacation beginning in the 2026 vacation year. A new Letter of Understanding ensures all employees have access to view their electronic pay stubs and review leave and pay banks with assistance if needed. “This new collective agreement represents steady growth and practical improvements that will have a real, positive impact for our members,” says Aren Plante, CLAC representative. “Our members work tirelessly to provide excellent care and support to the residents of Maplecrest Village. We’re proud to see them recognized with fair wage increases, improved benefits, and stronger access to their employment information.” You might be interested in Why We Work Safely 5 Jun 2026 Standing Your Ground, and Staying Steady on the Job 4 Jun 2026 CLAC Partners with Alberta Government to Advance Skilled Trades Training and Accelerate Certification 4 Jun 2026 Strathcona Mechanical Workers Ratify New Agreement Providing Wage, Scheduling Improvements 3 Jun 2026
