Thursday, February 13, 2025 Maplecrest Employees Secure Retroactive Wage Increases with New Two-Year Contract Locals Local 302 Ratifications Sectors Healthcare GRIMSBY, ON—Employees of Maplecrest Village Retirement Living – Levante Living, a retirement home in Grimsby, Ontario, voted 83 percent in favour of ratifying a two-year collective agreement providing them with retroactive wage increases and other improvements. The 30 employees, who work as RPNs, PSWs, and dietary aides, are represented by Niagara Health Care and Service Workers Union, CLAC Local 302. The union has represented them since 1992. The new contract provides current employees with a 3.5 percent wage increase retroactive to November 1, 2023, and a 3.5 percent increase retroactive to November 1, 2024. Benefits improvements include an increase to vision care coverage to $350 every two years and improved paramedical services coverage. In addition, the agreement provides increases to shift and weekend premiums. “We’re pleased with the result of negotiations,” says Aren Plante, CLAC representative. “The settlement secures much-needed wage increases and other improvements for members.
