Friday, January 5, 2018 Manufacturing's Good News Newsletters Sectors Manufacturing While the bad news is that the manufacturing sector in Ontario declined by 9.9 percent in 2016, the good news is that Windsor is seeing a bit of a comeback. Manufacturing jobs increased by 2.1 percent in the city as a share of the total workforce compared to 2011. “It’s not typical,” said Sylvie Bourbonnais, with Statistics Canada in an article by the CBC. “In most areas of Canada the greatest share of worker now works in healthcare and social assistance.” Much of the increase is coming from smaller operations growing and expanding, which bodes well for the future. Many of them are on the lookout for skilled tradespersons, opening the doors for workers.
