Making Progress

Since the Site C Clean Energy Project began construction four years ago, a lot of progress has been made—and much of the work has been done by Local 68 members. Here are some notable achievements so far:

  • Left bank slope stabilized
  • 11 million cubic metres of earth moved
  • 2 river tunnels excavated with a smooth concrete lining installed
  • Concrete foundation for the powerhouse on the right bank completed, with powerhouse construction well underway
  • Substation 70% complete
  • 50 transmission towers raised
  • Updates to Peace Canyon substation completed—first Site C asset in service
  • Portions of Highway 29 realigned between Fort St. John and Hudson’s Hope
  • 4,300 workers on site
  • On track to meet river diversion in September 2020
  • On track to meet final in-service date of 2024
