Making Progress

Since the Site C Clean Energy Project began construction four years ago, a lot of progress has been made—and much of the work has been done by Local 68 members. Here are some notable achievements so far:

Left bank slope stabilized
11 million cubic metres of earth moved
2 river tunnels excavated with a smooth concrete lining installed
Concrete foundation for the powerhouse on the right bank completed, with powerhouse construction well underway
Substation 70% complete
50 transmission towers raised
Updates to Peace Canyon substation completed—first Site C asset in service
Portions of Highway 29 realigned between Fort St. John and Hudson’s Hope
4,300 workers on site
On track to meet river diversion in September 2020
On track to meet final in-service date of 2024
