Love is a current that flows in us and through us Across the country, a golden thread that runs through our organization is that love underscores our work, and we do what we do because we love people. In our eyes, it’s not just work: it’s a calling to treat our fellow human beings as divine, to see our members’ work as part of the grand tapestry of life. This is the undercurrent that flows beneath the drudgery and hustle and keeps us showing up every day. Love is at the centre of everything CLAC does My work in the greater CLAC sphere is motivated by my love of people, and I share this feeling with the rest of my team. I have the distinct privilege of interviewing our members and sharing their stories. I can’t count how many times I’ve laughed and cried with them, often sharing personal things with them because vulnerability is contagious, and a beautiful way to connect. I get to share their happy workplace moments on social media, and turn their pain, progress, pride, and personal accomplishments into print. Whenever we run a social media contest for members, I get to hear about their weddings, their growing families, their summer vacations, their graduations. I hear about their best hikes and biggest catches, their dirt bike adventures and campfires and boat trips and moments that made them smile. Love is why I take great pride in my work, and why I consider it my honour to platform our members' stories in the best way possible. This is the whole point of CLAC We all work here because we actually care. We truly love each and every one of our members, and we show up for them because they are showing up each day in their workplaces, driven by love. Love is why they treat our elders and vulnerable people with dignity, giving the most intimate care to those society has forgotten. Love is why they steer a wheel, operate a crane, process meat, wield a wrench or hammer—using their hands to shape the future. Whether they're building a factory or a bridge, a road, a hospital, a school, or a rec centre, or tapping into our country’s natural resources, they're motivated by love to provide for their families. Love is why members employed in the hospitality and service industries keep guests staying at arenas or hotels safe and comfortable, and why those in education teach future generations with care. It's why each of our members clock in and out every day and gives it their all. Love is the purpose and point. We work with love, for love. And that’s the noblest calling.
