Saturday, August 15, 2026 Local Updates Newsletters Ontario Construction Local 6 After a very busy spring and summer, the Local is pleased to report on the successful ratifications at O’Connor Electric, the Independent Contractors Association, Besseling Mechanical, Halton Sheet Metal, Group 92 Mechanical, GS Sheet Metal, S&S Electrical Service, Advantage Electric, DD Mac Electric, Faugh Electric, Alder Concrete, Low's Glass, Urbanlink Civil and All-Pro Installations. The Local is currently in negotiations with BGIS Integrated Technical Services. The Board celebrated another great annual general meeting and golf tournament on June 6 at Century Pines Golf Club. Local members enjoyed sunny weather, good food and prizes, and received a state of the union address, highlighting the successes of the past year. Demik Construction Cam Beldman, Schilthuis Construction Mark O’Grady, Schilthuis Construction Sean Belzner, Schilthuis Construction Lance Silva, O’Connor Electric Nic Euler, Ontario Redi-Mix Alex Russo, Ontario Redi-Mix Local 52 The Local held its annual general meeting on May 11 at the Mississauga Member Centre. Staff reported on the activities over the past year, highlighting the Local’s continued growth and development. Ismail Mulumba and Jason Graham were each acclaimed to another three-year term on the Board. Following the AGM, staff gave the Board an update on ongoing negotiations for several bargaining units represented through the Mississauga, Cambridge, Ottawa, and Sudbury Member Centres, along with details on each negotiation. Staff also reported on 18 collective agreements that have been successfully negotiated and ratified, and provided the Board with details of each settlement. The Board also received updates on special cases and organizing initiatives and confirmed its officer roles for the coming year. Board members also reviewed the Local’s financial statements and discussed training opportunities available to members.
