Local 6

Local 6 is pleased to welcome new members employed by Glenn Richardson Plumbing & Heating Limited, based out of Burlington, and Treviso Elec. Inc., based out of Stoney Creek. Local 6 staff are currently negotiating renewal collective agreements with Arthur Electric Inc., Boonstra Heating & Air Conditioning, Complete Comfort Niagara Inc., Dufferin Concrete (Hamilton) Div of CRH, G.S. Sheet Metal, Jim’s Concrete, Konecranes Canada Incorporated – KCI, Ontario Redimix (Hamilton Plant) Div of CRH, Superior Concrete Forming Ltd, Umbrella Electric, and Xterra Construction Inc. The local is pleased to have recently ratified renewal collective agreements with Arcadian Projects Inc., Gedco Excavating Ltd., Mechanical Drywall Systems Ltd., Network Site Services Ltd., and Niacon Limited.

The board met on February 19 and received reports of financial statements and ongoing bargaining unit activities, including ratifications, negotiations, organizing, and labour board cases. The board is scheduled to meet again on April 15.

Local 52

The Local 52 Board met on March 5, 2025, at the Mississauga Member Centre. Local staff reported that they continue negotiations for approximately 15 companies represented out of the Mississauga, Cambridge, and Sudbury Member Centres and provided the board with specific details. Local staff also reported on nine collective agreement settlements that have been achieved for the members of the local that have each been ratified. Local staff also walked through these in detail with the board.

The board was also updated on each of the special cases and organizing initiatives that local staff are involved in. The board reviewed the financials of the local along with the training opportunities that are available to local members. The board and local staff received and reviewed the report submitted by Andrew Regnerus, Ontario construction coordinator. The board plans to meet again in June for its regularly scheduled meeting.

Local 53

The Local 53 Board regularly meets quarterly, with a meeting held in January and upcoming meetings scheduled for May, October, and December. The annual general meeting is planned for this summer. Once the date is confirmed, event details will be circulated in an announcement to the entire membership of the local.

Local representatives based at the Chatham, Cambridge, and Mississauga Member Centres continue with a busy year of collective agreement renewals and first collective agreements. Negotiations continue for members employed by Empire Roofing Corporation, Glenile Services, Gordon Ruth and Company Ltd., Johnson Electric Inc., Pro Trades Mechanical Inc., Trade Tech Mechanical Services Inc., and Young Electrical Services Ltd. Settlements were reached in early 2025 for members employed by D. Grant Construction Limited, Liftsafe Engineering & Service Group, Poirier Electric Limited, and Zyp Concrete.
