Local 6
The Local 6 Board is pleased to welcome new members employed by Niagara Ready Mix, a ready-mix concrete supplier based in Thorold. After a very busy spring, the local is pleased to have recently renewed collective agreements with Aquaflow Plumbing & Heating Service, BCR Electric Limited, Cirrus Management Contracting Limited, M.W. Coating Systems Ltd., Provincial Construction Limited, Rankin Construction Inc., Succession Development Corporation, and Sundial Homes (Burl 7) Limited.
Local 6 staff are currently negotiating renewal collective agreements for members employed by Losani Homes, Mechanical Drywall Systems Ltd., and Niagara Formwork Structures Inc.
The local held its annual general meeting and golf tournament at Century Pines Golf & Country Club on June 8. At the annual general meeting that followed, secretarial and financial reports highlighted the continued growth and success of the local.
The board is excited to welcome Alex Russo (Ontario Redi-Mix) as a new board member. Cam Beldman and Sean Belzner were reappointed to serve another term.

Local 52
The board hosted the Local 52 annual general meeting at the Mississauga Member Centre on June 19. At that meeting, we reviewed the minutes from the previous year, the 2023 financial report, the activity of the Local from 2023; updated attendees on training initiatives available to members; and acclaimed four members to the board. Jordan Gath and Luis Silva were acclaimed to three-year terms each and Keith Gaudaur and Oshaine Powell to one-year terms.
The board met after the meeting and also on July 10. Local staff reported that they continue negotiations for approximately eight companies represented out of the Mississauga, Cambridge, and Sudbury Member Centres and provided the board with specific details.
Local staff also reported on 13 collective agreement settlements that have been achieved and ratified by members and walked through each in detail with the board. The board was also updated on each of the special cases and organizing initiatives that local staff are involved in.
The board reviewed the local’s financials along with training opportunities available to members. Local staff provided orientation to the board on its role and duties both for the benefit of new board members and as a refresher for those who have already served.
The board welcomed Jason Graham back to the board. Board members reviewed the audited financial statements and approved them and received and reviewed a report submitted by Andrew Regnerus, Ontario construction coordinator.

Local 53
The Local 53 Board meets quarterly, with fall meetings scheduled for October and December. Representatives based at the Cambridge and Chatham Member Centres continue to guide a busy year of collective agreement renewals and first agreements. Welcome is extended to the newest Local 53 members employed by Arcon Electric Ltd., based in London; Goris Electric, based in London, and Sheridan Electric Services Ltd., based in Mississauga. Leading into the fall, the local’s membership total continues to exceed previous annual records, now averaging nearly 2,000 members employed at 52 different construction workplaces across southwestern Ontario.
