Local Updates
Local 911
The Local 911 annual general meeting (AGM) was held virtually in June this year due to pandemic restrictions on larger gatherings. The virtual attendance was well received, and the Local 911 Board went over some things from the last year including the ratification of a new collective agreement, training, and also some struggles around the current COVID-19 guidelines.
The AGM concluded with the election of two new board members, Calvin Hawkins and Philip Lee, with Aaron Calder moving into the president position and Paul Osborne as vice-president. We thank outgoing board members Paul Leggatt and Philip Robinson for their years of service to the membership. We look forward to a great 2022 with the new board and many things to come!
Local 920
The Local 920 Board meeting and annual general (AGM) meeting was held virtually in June. Attendance was well supported by all municipalities. The board discussed the renewal of positions coming up this Fall from both Belleville and Sudbury as well as it’s continued sponsorship of both the Fire Service Women of Ontario as well as the Canadian Fallen Firefighter Memorial.
The AGM immediately followed the board meeting and had representation from all Local 920 municipalities. This year’s speaker was Jason Dykstra, who focussed on mental health during the pandemic. Much anticipation is expected for the 2022 board and AGM in Clarence-Rockland.
