Friday, November 16, 2018 Local 56 Workers at Ryder Truck Rentals Ratify First Contract Locals Local 56 Ratifications Calgary—CLAC Local 56 members employed by Ryder Truck Rentals Canada Ltd. have ratified their first collective agreement. Highlights of the three-year contract include: establishing standardized rates of pay with yearly increases of two percent; establishing holidays and vacation allowances with additional float days; bereavement entitlement; establishing apprenticeship reimbursement guidelines; standardizing the tool and boot allowance; and establishing standardized premiums. “We were able to get a fair first agreement, and the process allowed us to work through many issues in a positive way, with a good resolution,” saysJody Hansford, a bargaining committee member and newly elected CLAC steward. Ryder Truck Rentals Canada runs a full maintenance shop for H&R Transport Ltd. in Calgary. Its 15 CLAC employees work as journeyperson technicians, trailer technicians, apprentice technicians, parts persons, and lube technicians.
