Local 56 members delivered car loads of food to Africa Centre food bank Locals Local 56 Newsletters Alberta Local 56 Local 56 held a food drive in February for the Africa Centre food bank. Many Albertans of African descent work on the front lines in healthcare and manufacturing, risking their health and their lives to serve their communities and the economy. They have been hit particularly hard by the pandemic. The African Centre is providing culturally relevant food hampers to the African community to help ease the burden of illness and isolation. Thanks to members and participating CLAC-signatory companies, two car loads of food were gathered and delivered to the food bank on February 26, 2021. Plus, over $500 was raised in gift cards and cash. In addition, CLAC donated $750 to the centre. Local 56 members from Maple Leaf Poultry, OEM Remanufacturing, and Quantum Lifecycle Partners participated in the drive as well as CLAC staff at the Edmonton Member Centre.
