Local 52 Members at WB Melback Ratify New Agreement

New Liskeard, ON—Local 52 members employed by WB Melback recently ratified a three-year collective agreement. 

The contract provides increases to the pension plan, with the employer contributing seven percent, plus an additional two-percent matching contribution. Employees will receive incentives to become apprentices and journeypersons, with $1,200 for completing trade school and $2,500 for becoming a certified journeyperson. 

The contract also introduces gift cards for accepting call-ins, and provides a boot allowance. A wage opener will be held in years two and three. 

Local 52 members employed by WB Melback work primarily as welders, millwrights, and carpenters in northern Ontario and throughout western Canada.
