Sunday, November 23, 2025 Local 302 Gathers Strength Across Niagara and Hamilton Members celebrated their achievements, growth, and shared commitment to a cooperative, people-first model of unionism at this year’s annual general meeting Local 302 Ontario Healthcare Niagara Healthcare and Service Workers Union, CLAC Local 302, held its annual general meeting (AGM) at Club Roma in St. Catharines on September 23. The event gathered more than 100 participants, including PSWs, dietary aides, RPNs, RNs, and CLAC staff, to celebrate the local’s achievements and ongoing growth in the region. During the meeting, Local 302 President Shawn Kelly delivered a powerful State of the Local address, highlighting the local’s steady expansion and commitment to its members. “Now that our local stretches from the borders of Niagara Falls to the Hamilton Mountain,” said Shawn, “you may have noticed our ads on Hamilton buses, boldly declaring CLAC as ‘A Union That Works.’ For 73 years, we have said it—and for 73 years, we have proven it. “CLAC’s model of labour relations works—cooperation, mutual respect, treating people fairly, and above all, honouring the God-given dignity of every person in the workplace. These are not just slogans—they are principles that have guided us since the beginning. And in 2025, CLAC Local 302 has not wavered from them.” The event featured a delicious Italian meal—including pasta and chicken—and offered valuable educational content. A financial management and retirement savings session was presented by Sherrie Thompson, giving members practical tools for planning their financial futures. The evening concluded with prize giveaways and great camaraderie among attendees. Local 302 continues to serve and represent healthcare and service workers across the Niagara and Hamilton regions, ensuring members’ voices are heard and their rights protected in the workplace.
