Saturday, April 6, 2024 Local 301 Board Report Locals Local 301 Newsletters Alberta Local 301 As was reported in the March issue of the Guide, CLAC held its National Convention this past December. Local board member Josh Marrazzo provided a report to the delegates on behalf of Local 301 and its 5,000-plus members. Josh spoke about the challenges created by the pandemic, about how members, as essential workers, continued on the front lines, working with the elderly and with those with disabilities, and ensuring food was on the shelves at the grocery stores. He also highlighted the expansion of Entrust, where members support their clients in the community at group homes, from Edmonton to Calgary and to various locations in-between. He also spoke about challenges in the healthcare and retail sectors and ended his remarks with a thank you to all members who are so essential and contribute so much! Local 301 also brought forward a resolution regarding minimum wage in Alberta, which was adopted by the convention. Since then, advocacy to Alberta government and MLAs on this topic has been initiated. The Local 301 Board is pleased to announce that Vicki Gagne and Connie Bonney will continue to serve on the board for another three-year term. Since there were no other nominations, they were acclaimed to the positions. Both are employees of Save-On-Foods and also serve as stewards at their work locations. We thank them for their dedicated service to the local.
