Thursday, September 18, 2025 Ledcor Highways – County Maintenance Employees Ratify 32-Month Agreement Local 56 Ratifications RED DEER, AB—Local 56 members in Red Deer, Alberta, employed by Ledcor Highways Ltd. in the county road maintenance division ratified a 32-month collective agreement providing them with wage increases and many other improvements. The new contract provides senior operators and mechanic employees with a six percent wage increase at the end of September. Tiered wage increases averaging 4.6 percent were negotiated for other classifications for 2025. The agreement also includes scheduled wage reviews for October 2026 and 2027. In addition to wage increases, members’ retirement contributions have diversified to include the CLAC Pension Plan, at $0.80 per hour, in addition to their existing RRSP contributions. Other improvements include an increase to the travel allowance to $0.66 per kilometre when using a personal vehicle for travel between shops, a doubling of the personal protective equipment allowance to $400 when combined annually after 1,740 hours, and an increase in the accommodation allowance to $140 per day. The new contract also provides strengthened nondiscrimination and inclusion language, a commitment to cultural training including Indigenous cultural awareness, and employer contributions to the union’s industry fund to promote more government relations engagement.
