Kiewit Energy Employees Vote Overwhelmingly in Favour of New Contract

Edmonton—Local 63 members employed by Kiewit Energy Construction Co. ULC (KENCO) voted 91 percent in favour of ratifying a 44-month collective agreement providing them with significant wage increases.

Employees working on the SHRED project at the Strathcona Refinery in Edmonton will receive a four percent wage increase effective immediately, bringing the base wage rate to $47.12 per hour. All other general Alberta employees will receive a wage increase to $48 per hour on June 1, 2024, followed by additional annual $2 per hour increases on June 1 of 2025 and 2026. A wage review is scheduled for June 1, 2027, with a minimum two percent increase guaranteed. All told, the wage increases total a minimum of 17 percent over the term.
