In Memoriam

Mourning the loss of three Local 63 members: Alex Abt, Cale Chisman, and Leonard Robillard

Alex Abt

Alex was a Local 63 member and carpenter employed by Ledcor Construction Limited for the past 11 years. He arrived in Calgary in 2008 looking for a change and was soon hired by Ledcor while it was building The Bow tower in downtown Calgary.

Alex started out as a labourer and soon showed that he wasn’t afraid of work and that he had a tremendous skill set. Within a few years, he had transferred to the Calgary branch and worked on a variety of projects with Ledcor. He was very popular with the other guys and got long with everyone.

In March 2014, Alex was elected as a steward for the Calgary group of Ledcor employees. He attended all of the Tool Box courses CLAC offered and loved serving his fellow members. He was also able to attend a few of the stewards conferences in Banff and really enjoyed them.

Tragically, in December 2019, at the age of 56, Alex succumbed to a heart attack while at home. He leaves behind his mother and sister in Ontario and leaves us all with some great memories but sadness at his passing. Take care, Alex, and God bless.

Cale Chisman

Cale was a Local 63 member who passed away in November 2019 at the young age of 27. He was employed by WorleyCord Industrial Services Ltd. in Fort McMurray and passed away while on turnaround. He had worked for various CLAC-signatory companies in Alberta since 2014. Cale will be missed by his family, friends, and fellow Local 63 members and coworkers.

Leonard Robillard

Leonard, a Local 63 member for 10 years, passed away in February 2020 at the age of 46. He lived in Edmonton and was a foreman employed by PCL Builders Inc. He will be missed by his family, friends, and fellow Local 63 members and coworkers who knew him over the years of his career.
