Wednesday, February 27, 2019 Happy Retirement, Joanne Godin! Locals Local 304 Newsletters Former Local 304 member Joanne Godin retired in October 2018 after just over 34 years working at IOOF. Joanne remembers very well when CLAC became the union for full-time staff at her facility. She jokes that she was the last to sign a union card in her driveway one evening. She then became a great advocate for members, serving multiple terms as chief steward and bargaining committee member on several agreements. After full-time staff saw the benefits of having CLAC as their union, Joanne worked alongside former CLAC Representative and National Board President Hank Kuntz to get part-time staff signed up—and she still keeps in touch with Hank today! Joanne remembers how many meetings were held at Jacques Restaurant—which is now a car dealership—on Essa Road in Barrie to get this completed. Joanne remained a proud CLAC member during her 34 years at IOOF. Her teammates already miss her and we all wish her a happy, healthy retirement as she joins her husband, Peter, who retired from IOOF over a year ago.
