The 20 employees, who work as personal support workers, attendants, and housekeeping, maintenance, and activities staff, are represented by Healthcare and Service Workers Union, CLAC Local 304. The union has represented them since April 2019. The new contract provides employees with a $1 per hour across-the-board wage increase followed by three percent increases in each of the next two years. Other improvements include the introduction of a medication distribution premium and weekend premium and an increase to the night-shift premium. The agreement also provides an increase to vision coverage, inclusion of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation as a statutory holiday, and earlier enrolment in the pension plan. “The priority focus of the union bargaining committee for this round of negotiations was to increase wage compensation levels by a significant margin,” says Ken Dam, CLAC representative. “Most staff will see approximately 12 percent in wage increases over the 3-year term, along with some other significant improvements as well. We are very pleased with what we have achieved.” You might be interested in Why We Work Safely 5 Jun 2026 Standing Your Ground, and Staying Steady on the Job 4 Jun 2026 CLAC Partners with Alberta Government to Advance Skilled Trades Training and Accelerate Certification 4 Jun 2026 Strathcona Mechanical Workers Ratify New Agreement Providing Wage, Scheduling Improvements 3 Jun 2026
