Thursday, August 24, 2023 Graceview Employees Unanimously Ratify Three-Year Contract Locals Local 53 Ratifications Sectors Construction Belmont, ON—Employees of Graceview Enterprises Inc. voted unanimously in favour of a three-year collective agreement providing them with significant wage increases and other improvements. The employees are represented by Construction Workers Union, CLAC Local 53. The new terms take effect immediately and continue until June 2026. The contract provides employees with total value increases as high as $6.45 per hour (14 to 18.5 percent depending on classification), including an immediate seven percent hourly wage increase and further three percent increases each following July for the remainder of the term. The new agreement also provides improved vacation pay, pension contributions, and life and dental insurance coverage. Other improvements were made to personal days, language and compensation governing travel, and tool, boot, and workwear allowances. In addition to the contract’s monetary improvements, a key consideration for all parties was improving the structure of annual employee evaluations for assessment of advancement and skill development. “Inflation has made life difficult for everyone,” says Roger Grootenboer, CLAC representative. “This contract’s immediate wage increase will allow our members to address rising costs with a strong increase to their income. “Graceview has always been a workplace where employees come on board and then choose to stay for a career. This settlement continues to provide the certainty of work with solid compensation terms to maintain that positive work community and culture. We are pleased to work with management to arrive at this mutually beneficial reality.” You might be interested in Why We Work Safely 5 Jun 2026 Standing Your Ground, and Staying Steady on the Job 4 Jun 2026 CLAC Partners with Alberta Government to Advance Skilled Trades Training and Accelerate Certification 4 Jun 2026 Strathcona Mechanical Workers Ratify New Agreement Providing Wage, Scheduling Improvements 3 Jun 2026
