Flooding in BC—How You Can Help

Many residents of British Columbia continue to grapple with the impact of the devastating floods and landslides

We are deeply saddened to let you know that we tragically lost a member as a result of the flood disaster. Our thoughts are with the family, friends, and coworkers grieving the loss and all of those who have been affected in some way by these catastrophic events.

It will take significant time to rebuild what has been lost and for our communities to heal, but we can do so together. CLAC continues to work with project owners, employers, stewards, and affected members to respond to the most urgent needs and will provide further information regarding any additional supports as they become available.

Additional Supports Announced

The BC government has partnered with the Red Cross to provide additional funding for those whose primary residences have been placed on evacuation orders. Eligible households will receive $2,000.

Provincial Disaster Financial Assistance

The BC government’s Disaster Financial Assistance (DFA) program remains open. The DFA is available to any BC resident affected by floods or landslides between November 14 and 16, 2021.

Assistance will be available for those without sufficient insurance to cover the scale of the damage, including homeowners, tenants, business owners, local governments, and Indigenous communities.
