Tuesday, July 29, 2025 First Contract Secured for Millcreek Plumbing & Mechanical Employees Local 53 Ratifications Construction ST. THOMAS, ON—Local 53 members employed by St. Thomas, Ontario-based Millcreek Plumbing & Mechanical Ltd. voted unanimously in favour of ratifying their first collective agreement. Terms of the three-year settlement take effect August 1, 2025. Local 53 was certified by the Ontario Labour Relations Board in April 2025 as the union for the plumbing and mechanical trades employed by Millcreek. The agreement establishes a full spectrum of union contract benefits for the employees including a significant immediate wage increase followed by determined annual wage adjustments, new healthcare benefits coverage, and employer contributions to the CLAC Pension Plan. Members will fully participate with CLAC-provided programs of health and safety training and apprenticeship registration and support. Other negotiated aspects include improved vacation pay and an hourly tool and safety footwear allowance. “The members at Millcreek looked to CLAC to provide the stability and labour relations guidance they saw in other CLAC-represented workplaces in the area,” says Roger Grootenboer, representative. “The best kind of advertising is by word of mouth. CLAC members provided that positive message. We are pleased to accept this new group into the growing community of CLAC-represented workplaces.” You might be interested in Why We Work Safely 5 Jun 2026 Standing Your Ground, and Staying Steady on the Job 4 Jun 2026 CLAC Partners with Alberta Government to Advance Skilled Trades Training and Accelerate Certification 4 Jun 2026 Strathcona Mechanical Workers Ratify New Agreement Providing Wage, Scheduling Improvements 3 Jun 2026
