First Contract Brings Solid Gains to City Electric Employees

Mississauga, ON—CLAC Local 52 members employed by City Electric Inc. have unanimously ratified a first collective agreement.

The two-and-a-half year contract includes wage increases, increased vacation pay, and, for the first time, retirement savings via CLAC’s Pension Plan. In a big step forward, City Electric will now be paying the full cost of health and welfare benefits for its employees.

“Negotiations were tough, and they took a lot longer than expected, but in the end we reached a deal that’s good for our members,” says Robert Brink, CLAC representative.

The electricians and apprentices at City Electric work on residential, commercial and institutional projects in the Greater Toronto Area.
