Wednesday, February 9, 2022 Firefighters Without Borders Goes to Mexico Newsletters Ontario Emergency Services Firefighters Without Borders Canada is sending a team to assist with training of local firefighters in Mexico from April 4 to 11. The team is flying on sponsored flights from Sunwing to Purto Vallerta. The training mission team will work with 80 bomberos from different five communities. Under the lead of Local 920 member Captain Phil Cyr, the team will cover topics such as auto extraction, equipment usage, and medical and basic firefighter skills. Along with Phil, the team includes three additional Local 920 members with Belleville Fire and Emergency Services: firefighter Jennifer Allen, Lieutenant Jason Allen, and Training Officer Jeff Robbins. Other members of the training team include District Chief Ian Robertson and firefighters Mark Lienhardt and Noah Edmonds. Firefighters Without Borders Canada has already shipped a 40-foot container of equipment to the area, which will outfit 100 firefighters serving the five communities. Some of the departments being helped currently have no equipment.
