Everstrong Construction Employees Unanimously Ratify New Collective Agreement

Georgetown, ON—Employees of Everstrong Construction Ltd., based in Georgetown, Ontario, unanimously ratified a three-year collective agreement providing them with significant wage increases.

The employees are represented by Construction Workers Union, CLAC Local 52. The union has represented them since April 2017.

The new contract provides wage increases of up to 14.5 percent over the term. Other improvements include the option of long term disability coverage to a maximum of $3,000, an increase in the boot allowance to $325, a smaller home-based travel zone, an increase in the mileage rate to 62 cents per kilometre, and an increase to the out-of-town meal allowance to $60 per day.

“The union bargaining committee had a clear understanding of what the membership wanted and delivered increases on each priority,” says Randy Parris, CLAC representative. “The membership felt that the increases were significant, and it resulted in a unanimous vote in favour of the settlement.”

Everstrong provides general contracting services, specializing in building schools across the GTA. The union members are employed as carpenters, labourers, and equipment operators.
