Errinrung Long Term Care Home Employees Unanimously Ratify New Contract

Thornbury, ON—Employees of Errinrung Long Term Care Home in Thornbury, Ontario, unanimously ratified a two-year collective agreement providing them with wage increases and other gains.

The approximately 30 employees are represented by Healthcare and Service Workers Union, CLAC Local 304. The union has represented the home’s employees since 1980.

The new contract provides employees with three percent wage increases, with special adjustments for RPNs and housekeeping, dietary, and laundry staff. An orientation premium and a premium for unregulated care providers were introduced along with increases to shift and in-lieu-of-benefits premiums for part-time employees. Increases were made to vision, dental, and paramedical coverage, and a new mental health paramedical benefit was also introduced.

“The union bargaining committee is very happy with the progress made during this lengthy round of bargaining,” says Patricia Pot, CLAC representative. “We look forward to making further improvements for the membership during negotiations next summer.”
