Wednesday, December 27, 2017 Empire Roofing Workers Secure Improved Wages, Benefits with New Contract Locals Local 53 Ratifications Sectors Construction Windsor, ON—Local 53 members employed by Empire Roofing Corporation, located in Windsor and Mississauga, have ratified a collective agreement that will provide monetary increases of just over seven percent over the next three years. The contract includes wage and allowance increases and improved health benefits and overtime provisions. Employees covered by the agreement include roofers and apprentice roofers, sheet metal workers, and skilled and general labourers. “It’s a good contract providing increases that continue to surpass the cost of living,” says Ryan Griffioen, CLAC representative. CLAC Local 53 has represented workers at Empire Roofing since 1992 and construction workers in southwestern Ontario for 50 years.
