Friday, September 27, 2024 DeFran Electric Employees Secure Substantial Wage Increases with New Contract Locals Local 52 Ratifications Sectors Construction Etobicoke, ON—Local 52 members employed by DeFran Electric Inc. unanimously ratified a three-year collective agreement providing them with substantial increases to their wages plus other improvements. The new contract provides members with a $9.50 per hour wage increase (24 percent), including $6 per hour in the first year. The total package increase of the settlement is $12.33 per hour (25.5 percent). In addition, employer contributions to members’ pension plan increased by two percent. Other improvements include increased vision coverage to $600; the extension of benefits coverage to apprentices during trade school; increases to the boot, tool, and clothing allowances; and the introduction of three paid sick days. “DeFran Electric is a unique company with a group of experienced and talented electricians,” says Randy Parris, representative. “They work on some of the GTA’s most luxurious residential properties.
