Coronet Electric: Still Going Strong!
One of the oldest CLAC-signatory companies in Alberta is Coronet Electric Inc., an electrical contracting company that has been proudly serving Edmonton and the surrounding area for over 50 years
Local 63 was certified by the Alberta Labour Relations Board to represent Coronet’s employees on January 18, 1982—over 42 years ago! The company has many long term employees who appreciate the labour relations partnership that has been built over the years, which is based on steadfast integrity and trust between the company and union.
“Our relationship with CLAC is at the forefront of each candidate interview and new hire orientation we have,” says Derrick Voogd, general manager. “Knowing that there is a professional team that has your back for retirement planning and benefits coverage really goes a long way for our team members.
“Coronet stresses four pillars as the keys to our values: safety, quality, knowledge, and communication. It is just as important to get a project completed as it is to work safely and at a high quality. Interactions with all teams are timely, supportive, and courteous. This helps keep all stakeholders on the same page and build an internal culture of trust.”
Coronet Electric currently employs 25 Local 63 members working as electrician journeypersons and apprentices. Specializing in mainly wood frame residential construction, Coronet Electric has helped grow the Alberta market through tens of thousands of projects over the years.
