Coastal GasLink Ceremony Marks Positive Development for BC LNG Industry, CLAC Members

Vancouver, BC—CLAC and industry representatives gathered in Vancouver yesterday to participate in a signing ceremony for the Coastal GasLink project pipeline contracts—another positive development for BC’s emergent LNG industry. Upon completion, the 670-kilometre Coastal GasLink line will transport natural gas from the Peace River region to the proposed LNG Canada facility near Kitimat, BC.

CLAC signatory contractor, Macro Industries Inc., part of a joint venture with Spiecapag, have been awarded two spreads on the project.

“On behalf of CLAC and its members, we would like to congratulate Macro Spiecapag on the award, and TransCanada on another significant milestone,” says Kevin Kohut, CLAC BC director. “This project will create exciting opportunities for skilled workers and businesses in Northern British Columbia.”

The announcement of the Coastal GasLink contracts occurs after years of planning and consultation with local communities and First Nations throughout the province.

“We are encouraged by TransCanada’s commitment to local and Indigenous engagement and employment,” says Kohut. “CLAC members will be proud to apply their skills to this project.”

CLAC members will add Coastal GasLink to a continuously growing list of successfully completed major projects.
