Electric Ltd. and O’Connor Electric) each employ over 400 members! • In 2023, members worked 11.5 million hours in Ontario construction—you and your fellow members are literally building the province! • 20 full-time representatives take care of member concerns. They are supported by many administrative staff working on CLAC’s Jobs, Training, Apprenticeship, Vacation Pay, Communications, Research, Retirement, Benefits, Finance, and Information Technology Teams. • Two-thirds of members are enrolled in the CLAC Vacation Pay Fund. • Approximately 50 percent of members are enrolled in a CLAC benefits plan. • 90 percent of members are enrolled in the national CLAC Pension Plan—the 12th largest defined contribution plan in Canada with over $1.5 billion in assets! • CLAC has three construction locals with province-wide jurisdiction: » Local 6 represents members working in the Hamilton-Niagara-Brant regions. » Local 52 represents members working in the GTA and eastern and northern Ontario. » Local 53 represents members working in southwestern Ontario. • Did you know that a few hundred members are represented by CLAC directly and are not part of a local? Most of these members work for a long-time legacy company, likely in the Hamilton or Sarnia areas where CLAC has its roots, or in eastern Ontario, where CLAC hasn’t established a local yet.
